The relentless pressure on core public services means resources are being sucked away from precious, life-affirming public assets and services like county parks, community centres, libraries and so on. Some of these assets are so successful in attracting visitors, as is the case with Balloch Park, that without investment in facilities and staff, their decline in health is even more rapid. How can these wonderful places be sustainably managed for nature and people, and continue to be fully accessible and publicly owned?
